Gleaner Gives Back to Mackinac Island
One of the Society's more recent traditions is to make a lasting impression, our fraternal footprint if you may, on the host city of our national conventions. This year, Gleaner members gathered at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island for our 54th Biennial Convention:
Setting Course for the Future...Stay Anchored with Gleaner
Gleaner members came out in full force as we reached all time highs for our attendance and silent auction proceeds which raised over $7,000 for charitable organizations. After much consideration, the proceeds from the silent auction were distributed between three organizations on the island.
$4,000 was donated to Mackinac Island (volunteer) Fire Department for an ice rescue kit.
$2,000 was donated to Mackinac Island Public Schools for their media center.
$1,364.59 was given to the Mackinac Island Medical Center for a new datascope.
We thank all of our members and guests who purchased or donated a silent auction item. Without you, these grand donations would not have been possible! Together, we can truly make a difference for others!
