Retired Gleaner Sales Representative George Flack received the 2009 “Russell L. Buck Award for Outstanding Fraternal Involvement by a Gleaner Sales Representative.” The Russell L. Buck Award is presented annually to a Gleaner sales representative who exemplifies involvement in Gleaner fraternal activities and volunteerism. The award was established in memory of Russell L. Buck, former Board Member and Gleaner sales representative.
During the 54th Biennial Convention in October 2009, Flack was presented with a plaque in addition to a $1,000 donation from the Society for his favorite charity. A permanent plaque honoring all award recipients is displayed in the Fraternal and Field Departments at the Gleaner Home Office.
Flack began his career with Gleaner in 1958 and served as a sales representative for 38 years before retiring in 1996.
As current president of Snowbird Arbor, Flack demonstrates his ongoing commitment to fraternalism and love in giving back to his community. He chairs the arbor’s annual project of parking cars at Pittsburg Pirates spring training games to raise funds for the local Boys and Girls Club. For years, Flack has helped with the planning and set-up of the annual Snowbird Picnic. When he is not enjoying the winter in Florida, Flack continues to be involved with South Fairfield Arbor in Metamora, Ohio.
Flack and his wife, Marjorie, recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
