Harrison Arbor Receives National JHD Award
The National Fraternal Congress of America selected Harrison Arbor (OH) as one of 10 recipients
of the 2008 JOIN HANDS DAY Excellence Awards. The arbor was honored during the NFCA's 122nd Annual Meeting in September. From more than 1,000 entries, Harrison Arbor was chosen for their projects’ “demonstration of a solid youth and adult partnership, as well as a notable impact on the community.”
For their JHD project, Harrison Arbor partnered with youth from McClure Little League to improve the grounds at McClure Park's ball fields. They spread nearly 24 tons of stone in the driveway and parking lot areas and planted flowers near the field.
In addition to receiving a JOIN HANDS DAY Excellence Award engraved with the name of the arbor and McClure Little League, Harrison Arbor will also receive a $1,000 donation to be shared with their youth partner or used for 2009 JHD project expenses.
