Gleaner Life CEO Marti retires; Noe named Interim CEO

May 17, 2022

After 10 years leading Gleaner Life Insurance Society, President and CEO Kevin Marti retired from his position on April 27. Board member and retired Michigan judge Margaret M.S. Noe was named Interim President and CEO while a nationwide search is conducted for the Society’s 10th president.

“We thank Kevin for 10 years of successful service to Gleaners, and we wish him the best as he enters retirement,” the Society’s Board of Directors declared in a joint statement.

Marti and his wife were looking forward to visiting two of their children and three of their grandchildren, including their latest granddaughter born in January. “I want to try out my new title, ‘Retiree/Opa,’ on the grandkids,” Marti said. He joined Gleaner Life in June of 2012.

Noe becomes the first female interim chief officer of the Society founded more than 127 years ago. She has served on Gleaner’s Board of Directors since her election in 2013 — when the Society also had a female Board Chair — and most recently was re-elected at the Society’s 60th Biennial Convention last October in Indiana.

Noe retired as Lenawee County’s Circuit Court Chief Judge in 2019. She also served as the Lenawee County Probate Court judge from 2005-08, and managed a private law practice for decades while raising three boys.

“Noe’s extensive legal career, long tenure on the board, and her proximity to Gleaner’s Home Office make her the ideal person to help our dedicated staff, agents, arbors, and members navigate this transition,” the Gleaner Board of Directors stated.

Noe previously served as chair of the board of trustees for Siena Heights University, where she has taught as an adjunct professor, as well as a past member of several other boards including Bank of Lenawee, Bixby Medical Center Sage Advisory Board, Montessori Children’s House, St. Joseph’s Academy, Sexual Awareness Protection Center, and Catholic Social Services.

Gleaner Life is a member-owned life insurance society founded in 1894 in Michigan as the first mutual life insurance group created for farmers. It expanded its membership over the decades, and now is licensed in a record 19 states with members across the U.S. The non-profit society helps members achieve their financial security goals through a broad range of life insurance and annuity solutions. “Gleaner Life Insurance Society is in a fifth consecutive year of growth. Our balance sheets are historically strong, as presented in the Spring 2022 issue of Forum Magazine,” Gleaner board members added.
