Each arbor can earn up to $11,000 in seed money each year to plant in their community. Beyond this, you can earn even more by volunteering: Gleaner rewards arbors for their hours of volunteer service, providing even more money for them to use in their future activities.

Whether you see an in-need family who could use a caring hand to help make ends meet, a playground that needs some sprucing up, or anything in between, Gleaner arbors are there to help build up your community. Gleaner's innovative Samaritan program encourages arbors to support a range of causes from environmental and patriotic to engaging youth and the elderly.

Gleaner is owned and governed by its members (those who own a life insurance or annuity certificate) through a representative form of government. Gleaner arbors play a vital role in the leadership of Gleaner through electing delegates to represent their arbor at Gleaner's biennial convention.

Depending on the number of members assigned to an arbor, the arbor has the opportunity to send one to three delegates to convention. These delegates come together to elect board members, vote on changes to Gleaner’s Constitution and discuss the state of the Gleaner Life Insurance Society. With a board composed of Gleaner members who have been elected by their fellow members, the priorities and needs of members are at the forefront of Gleaner’s leadership.
